SOTY 2 star Tara Sutaria did not start it all with Disney when she won us all over with that smile. Tara Sutaria received early education from Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls’ High School, Mumbai. The school was envisaged to help orphaned Parsee girls and it is living up to the founder’s expectations. At present, it balances education and curriculums and also has a special needs department ‘Crystal Club’.
It was founded in 1913 for Parsee girls as a boarding school for the primary level. Since its inception, the school has evolved into a secondary school over the years. The school started off with only 40 students and is managed by a Board of Trustees. It was in 1963, the school opened gates for day scholars from all communities.
Campus and Illustrious History
Located in the heart of the city, Bandra West, the school includes a playschool up to standard 10. It also comprises 14 classes across 71/2 acres of lush green land and a boarding section limited only to the Parsee community students. The school’s rich history narrates the story of a woman’s vision, determination, allegiance, and perseverance. It is named after donor Bai Hamabai Framji Petit’s mother. Bai Hamabai was keen on keeping her mother’s name alive and opening an orphanage for Parsee girls. She donated pieces of jewelry to work towards the charitable trust and dedicate it all towards the Parsee community.
Bai Avabai Framji Petit Girls’ High School divides students into four different houses. It aims to nurture healthy competition, team spirit, vision, efficiency, balance, and character among students. The school organizes various inter-house competitions to motivate kids and help them grow.
The boarding facility offered by the school covers basic facilities such as a full-fledged kitchen with cooks and helpers. Matrons are in-charge of each of the four dorms. Visiting doctors is available weekly and on-demand as well. For educational purposes, there is a book library. To encourage sports and physical activity, the boarding offers indoor and outdoor adventure games.
In 2018, the school launched its Alumni website to create a network for Petites and get in touch with one another. The aim is to build a strong knit community that helps alumni and students know each other better.

Tara Sutaria became a household name for kids and teenagers when she first appeared in Disney India’s Big Bada Boom in 2010. Soon she occupied television screens in sitcoms The Suite Life of Karan & Kabir, and Oye Jassie. Born on 19th November 1995, she rose to fame again with Dharma Productions’ Student of The Year 2 opposite Tiger Shroff. The movie also launched Ananya Pandey. The Parsi stalwart was born in a Gujarati family and has a twin sister, Pia Sutaria. Tara graduated from St. Andrew’s College of Arts, Science, and Commerce. Sutaria holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Media. She also received professional training in singing at a young age of 7 years. In 2019, she also appeared in Marjaavaan opposite actor Siddharth Malhotra.
Tara has also been a video jockey. She even played the lead character in Raell Padamsee’s production of the musical Grease. Sutaria has solo international concerts in her kitty too. She has recorded and performed in London, Tokyo, Lavasa, and Mumbai. Alongside educational and singing training, Tara went to School of Ballet and Classical Dance in Mumbai. At present, Sutaria’s net worth is estimated at 5.4 crore INR. She received an invitation for TEDx Mumbai organized in 2015.
