BIT Mesra: Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra celebrated its 66th Foundation Day on July 15, 2021. Chief Minister Hemant Soren, who is also an alumnus of the institute, attended the ceremony as chief guest. The programme was attended by Chairman, C K Birla, Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Indranil Manna, Registrar, Col. Sukhpal Singh Khetarpal (Retd.), Dean (Alumni and International Relations), Dr. Utpal Baul, alumni representatives in the executive board, alumni members,, faculty, staff and students.
The event commenced at the CAT Hall and was broadcasted live on YouTube. Dr. Smriti Mishra and Mrinal Pathak hosted the ceremony.
Following tradition, Vice-Chancellor planted a sapling on this occasion. A short video memoir was presented, which consisted of some memorable moments of institutes glorious journey of more than half a century.
The Dean (Alumni and International Relations), Dr. Utpal Baul, welcomed the dignitaries and enumerated achievements of the institute during all these years.
Video messages of various retired faculty members were presented, where they reminisced the past and wished all for better future. Alumni of the institute also shared about their life and journey at BIT. The current students also expressed their views on how the institution stands up to its glorious name.

Addressing the new and old students Chairman, C. K. Birla mentioned about the dream his father and grandfather had seen and the effort they did in realizing it through the institution. He said that building a premier educational institution for the betterment of the country was their motive and the vision saw light of the day because of dedicated teachers and brilliant students.
The chief minister Hemant Soren, spoke about the excellent past of the educational institution.
Despite being built in a remote part of erstwhile Bihar it has remained distinguished as an institution of higher education for the past six decades.
