CBSE Launches Math For Learners For Class 7-10

CBSE has launched a new math for learners practice book for classes seven to ten, named ‘Mathematical literacy : Practice Book for Students’. CBSE launched the book to enhance critical thinking and problem solving skills in students. This book is designed to boost students’ critical thinking and problem solving skills easily at home without much help of parents and teachers.
During the book’s press release, CBSE announced, “We are confident that the learners would enjoy working in this Practice Book, especially during the time when regular classes/schools do not resume.

The need for new books for mathematics

Looking at the situation of corona pandemic in India Central Board of Secondary Education has launched a new mathematics workbook for students.
Due to the corona pandemic, schools are not open and children are not getting time to interact with their teachers. Teaching hours are also reduced as students cannot sit for 4-5 hours on online platforms. Hence, there is necessity of such a workbook which needs minimal support from teachers and parents while solving problems.
Narendra Modi’s government in July released the New Education Policy. New education policy brought about several major reforms in education in India . The policy aims to transform India’s education system by 2030.
The new education policy includes a new curricular and Pedagogical structure for school education
The policy aims to shape future of India. New education policy includes 4 stages first is foundational age groups for 3- 8 years. Second is preparatory age groups for 8- 11, third stage is middle age for 11- 14 and the last stage is secondary stage for 14-18. According to new Education Policy there will be more focus on vocational studies in school level.
The New Education Policy aims at making “India a global knowledge superpower”. Under New Education Policy, there will be no rigid separation between different streams such as science and commerce or commerce and arts , curricular and non- curricular activities, and also vocational and non – vocational studies .
