One of the most memorable days in Indian history is 15th August. It marks the day on which the Indian subcontinent got independence after a long struggle. The day celebrates our freedom fighters who broke the shackles of slavery and granted independence to all the Indians.


The struggle reminds us of the sacrifices of blood and sweat. Remembering this very auspicious day, Global Youth Voice had organized an online art competition. The competition had hundreds of submissions from all around the nation. The theme of the competition was “Independence day.
There were five groups namely group A consisting of pre-nursery and prep; group B from standards 1 to 3; group C from standards 4 to 7; while group D from standards 8 to 10; and group E consisting of standards 11 and 12. The competition saw many beautiful creations like the Red Fort and the national flag. The paintings were iridescent and reflected our colorful culture.


They also paid tribute to our soldiers who have laid their lives and are still fighting at the border. There were paintings that remembered our beloved Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi.

The winner from group B is Vedashri Walimbe from St. Joseph’s Central School, Vijaynagar, Mysore, Karnataka. The winner from group C is Sayon Mukherjee from D.A.V. Public School, Kuranda, Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The winners from group D are Aisha Panda from Buxi Jagabandhu English Medium School, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, and Ankita Majumdar from Belonia Government English Medium Higher Secondary School, Shaltilla, Belonia, Tripura. The winner from Group E is Soumitro Dey from Holy Cross School, Assam.
