He was elected as the Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar under Nitish Kumar’s government in Bihar Legislative Assembly of 2015.

Apart from politics, Tejashwi is a former cricketer too. He has played as middle-order batsman in one Ranji Trophy match and two limited-overs games for Jharkhand. Moreover, he has also been a part of Team Delhi Daredevils in 2008, 2009, 2011 and 2012 IPL seasons.

Brief account of his Political Struggles:

Tejashwi Yadav contested his first election at the age of 26. Lalu Yadav had handed him Raghopur constituency which he eventually won under the alliance of RJD-JDU. Meanwhile this victory marked his successful entry in Bihar politics and gradually he became the face of RJD.

After the arrest of Mr. Lalu Yadav in 2013, few party members were unhappy with appointing Tejashwi as their heir. However members resolved the party conflict and Tejashwi took the charge, even won in 2015 and acquired the position of Deputy CM of the state. But the Mahagathbandhan (grand alliance) collapsed in July 2017 when Nitish Kumar returned to NDA and Tejashwi had to leave the post.

In 2018, his party won Araria Parliamentary seat and Jehanabad Assembly seat and this is where Tejashwi’s political career took an escalation. In this Bihar Assembly Election 2020, he is  the CM face of the party.

Tejashwi on Youth of Bihar :

Being a youth himself, Tejashwi has always talked in support of youths of Bihar. In his recent rally, he said, “The young residents of the state will get benefit of at least 85% reservation in state job vacancies. We promise to provide 10 lakh jobs, if our party comes into operation. I hope young voters would join in huge numbers this time and will discard this caste or creed based vote bank. This is a fight between the government and people, and people are all set to win.” He also suggested that providing stable government jobs would help the economy of the state on large scale and will stop this escapade practiced by Biharis due to non availability of jobs.

“Show degree, Get Contractual job formula is worsening education system” :

Former Deputy Chief Minister has been slamming Nitish Kumar’s educational policy from the very beginning. He raised questions on the functioning of board exams, students’ protests against anomalies of Intermediate results. He blames Nitish government for spoiling the education system and future of Bihar.  “There are many students scoring more than maximum marks, but no one wants to plug the gaping holes. As a result, every year there is corruption in Bihar Board results.”

Further he commented, “Nitish Ji’s trademark ‘show degree, get contractual job’ formula is deteriorating the education system of the state.”

This particular election is a testimony of the youngest opposition leader. With no back support of his father, Tejashwi has managed RJD all by himself. Team GYV wishes Tejashwi Yadav a very Happy Birthday and all the luck for the upcoming election results.
