1. The Queen’s Gambit

Created by Scott Frank, this seven-episode limited series is an intense dramatic story of a young orphan. The girl deals with trauma to find even the slightest appearance of joy wherever she can and during this, she meets a number of people. Anna Taylor-Joy is playing the lead role of Beth Harmon, a young chess prodigy, justifying the character with her best acting skills. The show is bringing 1950s and 60s to life in vivid fashion. The chess matches look thrilling not because of the moves but because of enticing Beth’s story. Apart from Anna, the cast includes Marielle Heller, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Harry Melling, Bill Camp and Moses Ingram.

2. Sherlock

BBC series Sherlock is one of the fun and entertaining “Sherlock” story among the innumerable adaptations of Sherlock Holmes. The foundation of the story has been kept intact with the traditional adoption of classic dynamic and detective genre of characters Sherlock( Benedict) and Dr. James Watson(Martin). The script shows some electric chemistry between the two main characters and surprises audience at every turn.  Each episode is 90 minutes long which certainly feels like a feature film. Marc Macon is playing the schlock B-movie director whereas Alison plays a theatre nerd and aspiring actress. The series shows the life of a professional wrestling promotion called “Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling” where various aspiring actresses and generally women down on their luck audition and agree to take a stab at a whole new field. Season 1 is interesting of course but Season 2 is one of the best made Netflix shows ever. Enriched with 80s soundtrack and rich characters, GLOW is a must watch. Creators are Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch. The roles have been played by Alison Brie, Betty Gilpin, Sydelle Noel, Brittney Young and several other powerful actors.

4. Ozark

Ozark is created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams. It is one of the most popular shows and can be considered as a substitute of ‘Breaking Bad’. The story features a boy and his family whose lives are falling apart. They move to Ozark and start a business there but later discover themselves gradually falling into the criminal underworld. The struggling boy and the twists he goes through entertain the viewers. The rock solid performance credit goes to Jason Bateman, Laura Linney, Julia Garner, Peter Mullan and Janet McTeer.

5. Schitt’s Creek

The Canadian sitcom features the story of a wealthy family who loses everything when they are defrauded by their business manager. They then move to a new town and start accepting their lives. Comedy seems delightful, anchored by a phenomenal performance from Catherine O’Hara as the family matriarch. It can  be termed as a forward thinking series because here the family doesn’t judge their son’s pansexuality and embrace it with love. It’s hilarious, it’s witty and moreover a perfect show for uplifting your mood. Creators are Daniel Levy and Eugene Levy while the cast includes Catherine O’Hara, Eugene levy, Daniel Levy, Annie Murphy, Emily Hampshire, Chris Elliott and Jenn Robertson.
